So Long
04:40
|

As I look around
The shapes of my hometown
The places I hold dear
And the people I keep near
I write this little song
As it’s time to move along
I’m not sure what to do
But I think I’ll say so long
So long
I’m sure I’ll see you soon
I know I’ll miss it so
But that’s the way it goes
It’s not forever yet
But it feels like that I bet
It’s been quite a ride
We’ve laughed, and screamed and cried
But now we’re drawing near
But darling don't you fear
It’s only
So long
I’m sure I’ll see you soon

April (Lavender)

Your hair like the ocean waves
Your smile like the sunny day
Your laugh like a purple sky
Makes me such a happy guy
With words, I cannot describe
Just how you light my life
And though it seems cliche
I still try every day
Oh April
Oh April
Oh April
My April
Your mine
Just for now
I tried at poetry
To get you to see
how much you mean to me
I hope you would agree
That words will not suffice
Our love is just too nice
No poem will ever do
The same as “I Love You”
Oh April
Oh April
Oh April
My April
I'm yours
Just for now
So please
Don't go
And stay
With me
We’re here
Just for now
And then we’re gone

I saw you
While the snow was flying down all around our feet
I pulled you
Close to me and told you to stay there just for heat
And I would
Stay here right next to you
Lying on your bedroom floor
Who could ask for more
Too tired to speak
I should really get some sleep
But that would mean I’d have to leave
Or maybe I could stay
I heard you
Whisper such nice things as we laid in bed
I told you
To look up at the sky tonight and you’d see that it was red
And I would
Stay here right next to you
I’d never leave this room at all
If that’s what you want
Too tired to speak
I should really get some sleep
But that would mean I’d have to leave
And there’s things I wanna say

Elk Crossing

Drive up to a lookout point
To see the sunrise from Victoria
Yellow over Washington
Makes jokes about the ocean
And how I’ve never seen it
Get back in the van and drive
And drive until it’s late at night
The fog was rolling heavy through the mountains
It got so bad we couldn’t see
Brought us such anxiety
But we both know there’s nowhere we’d rather be
I’m grateful for what I’ve found
But I’m still scared of being lost
Alone without a friend in town
Who knows what it would cost
To stay there at the lookout place
As the sun prepared its space
To pain with vibrant pink and gold
To stop the feeling of getting old
It can only stop for now

Stronger than a pine tree
Stronger than I will ever be
Tougher than a great sea
Much greater than me
I wish I could change things
I wish I could take the hurt from you
But all I can control
Is what I say and do
Like a flower in the garden
That will grow despite the weeds
Into something beautiful
I’m glad I get to see
And darling don’t you worry
I’m right here by your side
And even if I wasn’t
You can be your own light
I know that it’s not fair
These things they have done to you
I wish that I could be there
But I know you’ll make it through
I know this to be true
You can be anything you want
Because no one can stop you
From being who you are
Like a flower in the garden
That will grow despite the weeds
Into something beautiful
I’m glad I get to see
And darling don’t you worry
I’m right here by your side
And even if I wasn’t
You can be your own light
Don’t let them bring you down
Don’t let it make you cry
You’re stronger than a dark cloud
You’re the whole sky
